A new Gallup poll released today shows 48% of registered voters choosing a Republican candidate and 44% choosing a Democrat in a hypothetical congressional race.

What is more troubling for Democrats is the finding that independents favor Republicans to Democrats, 52% to 30%.

And more bad news keep coming. Bloomberg News is reporting that another poll finds that just 52% of registered voters support reelection for their members of Congress. Bloomberg says: "That figure is similar to numbers recorded in 2006 and 1994, the last two elections in which control of both houses of Congress changed political parties, according to the survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press."
